China Agroforestry Low-Carbon Holdings Limited (hereinafter referred to as “China Agroforestry Low-Carbon” or the “Group”) (stock code: 01069) today announced that the Group will use the biomass energy base in Jiange County in Sichuan Province as the Group’s standard model in building new factories in provinces of the PRC with a serious level of air pollution, so as to further expand the Group’s biomass fuel business. The Group targets to increase the number of factories to approximately 100 in the next three years, and annual production capacity will be increased to approximately 3 million tonnes.

Phase one of the biomass fuel energy base of China Agroforestry Low-Carbon in Sichuan Province successfully commenced operation at the beginning of the year. At present, the base’s operation is on track, with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons. The said base will be used as the Group’s standard and its production model will be replicated to regions and provinces such as North Guangdong, Beijing and Tianjin, Hebei and Jiangsu where there is serious problem of air pollution. It is expected that the designed annual production capacity of each new factory will be 30,000 tonnes.

Mr. Long Weihua, an executive director of the Company, says, “We are confident in the operation model of biomass materials energy project and the large-scale biomass fuel production standard. Policies implemented by the PRC Central Government confirmed the role of biomass fuel as a clean fuel. Therefore, the Group will speed up the development of the biomass fuel field in the next three years. 30 to 35 new factories will be built each year to seize the huge opportunity arising from the development of the PRC biomass fuel market.”

In the context of reducing smog, China Agroforestry Low-Carbon intends to expand the biomass fuel business to moderately developed areas where there is no natural gas supply and within 200 kilometres from factories, by securing large-scale industrial park projects, constructing energy equipment and boilers for customers, providing energy supply technology and services, and sharing the reduction of energy costs with customers. It is expected that one or two such projects will be completed by the end of the year, which will complete the whole supply chain of the biomass fuel business of the Group and maximize profitability.

China Agroforestry Low-Carbon will continue to increase its investment and research and development, and co-operate with forestry research universities in China to establish a biomass fuel academy in the PRC, which aims to research biomass materials liquefaction, specialisation and minimisation of biomass fuel’s production facilities and upgrade of biomass boilers. At the same time, the Group will actively cooperate with enterprises which produce biomass fuels in the PRC to broaden the upstream supply sources and actively expand into the downstream market.
